Down Memory Lane: Starbucks Mid-Autumn Festival-Moon Cake Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival or also known as Moon Cake Festival celebrated by the Chinese during end September to early October every year. Therefore, Starbucks in Asia have joined the culture by promoting their own signature moon cakes every year throughout Asia. In Malaysia especially, Starbucks lover able to enjoy the special edition moon cakes which are different from the traditional mooncakes. Throughout the years, Starbucks Malaysia have introduce 5 different kind of mooncakes. The first promotion was in 2006 where they introduce 2 flavor, then it escalated to 4 and 5 flavors in the following years. They are:

• Tiramisu (2007-2011)

          - Rich Cheese and mung bean set in center,wrapped in a generous layer made of Starbucks
            Coffee and lotus paste

• Berries Cheese (2007-2010)

          - Cheese mung bean filling complemented with lotus, raspberry, dried cranberry and dried 

            strawberries

• Hazelnut Latte (2007-2011)

          - A delectable blend of Starbucks Coffee and chunky roasted hazelnuts.

• Green Tea Chocolates (2007-2011)

          - A burst of luscious, dark chocolate from the soft center filling balanced with an outer layer 
             of uplifting Starbucks green tea and lotus.

• Caramel Macchiato (2011)

          - Inspired by one of our indulgent offerings, this new rich combination of Starbucks ground 
            coffee satisfyingly complemented by the sweetish caramel center enhanced with 
            butterscotch chiptis a delight to savor. 

As the festival just not enough with only the mooncakes, Starbucks Malaysia decided to make a selection for their loyal customer. They have introduced 2 selection; The Regular Gift Box and the Premium Gift Box. Usually in the regular gift box, it will consist of 2 mooncakes (Tiramisu and Berries Cheese-excluding the 2007 promotion). Meanwhile, in the premium gift box will have 4 complete mooncakes and a special edition gift for the mooncakes festival. These are the promotion that Starbucks Malaysia have done from 2007-2011.
